Earlier this month, Andrew Wright, our senior partner, undertook the Ride Across Britain challenge by cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats with his wife, Claire. They clocked up 110 miles a day for 9 days to complete the 990 mile trip through some of the UK's most stunning landscapes.
The Ride, which takes place every two years with about 800 cyclists at the start line, is described as an ultra-endurance event. With plenty of hills and 12 hour days on the road, it lived up to its description.
“It was the toughest thing I’ve ever done. We had some strong head winds and torrential rain in England and on one morning a number of riders were treated for hypothermia. However, the conditions in Scotland were more benign and we arrived at John O’Groats in bright sunshine with beautiful views of the Orkney Islands.”
Andrew used the challenge to raise awareness for Sport in Mind (https://www.sportinmind.org) which transforms the lives and mental health of people through sport and physical activity. Now safely back in Orpington, he doesn’t intend to get back on his bike for a few weeks!
