It is with much sadness that we announce the loss of the former head of our matrimonial department, Terry Scuse, who passed away peacefully on March 1st.
Terry was not only much loved by everyone in the firm, but also the myriad clients and contacts that he made during his 50 plus years with CWJ.

Terry joined us when we were based in Lincoln's Inn Fields at the age of 16 and was the "tea boy". But from general office lad and then outside clerk, he soon grew into a skilled litigator and became the head of our matrimonial department for many years.
Senior Partner, Peter Giblin, commented "When I joined CWJ in 1976, Terry was one of our key Legal Executives based in Orpington. Although they never qualified as solicitors, they were at the top of their game. Terry was 33 years old then and I was 25. We played table tennis every lunch time and all became very close friends. I was delighted when he married my secretary, Jackie, as they were so well suited."
Terry was the life and soul of the party and a great ambassador for the people who worked with us over the years. He formed a unique communication bridge between the partners and staff.
He was a great lawyer, both technically and in terms of understanding the pressures on our clients who were going through their divorces. His empathy with his clients was second to none and he was enormously respected by them, his colleagues here and indeed the teams of barristers he knew over the years.
Terry was much loved by his family and friends and there will be many, many people who will want to say their last farewells to him at his funeral.
He was a good man and one who will be terribly missed.
