A man who regularly used vibrating tools at work has obtained a compensation settlement for the injuries he suffered as a result.
The man worked as a rigger for many years, during which time he was exposed to vibration from the tools he used. He later developed hand-arm vibration syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome.
He sought legal advice and commenced a personal injury claim. Medical reports were prepared but a settlement could not be reached. A liability report was therefore obtained from a consultant ergonomist, which confirmed the likelihood that he had been negligently exposed to vibrating machinery.
The day before his claim was due to be heard in court, a settlement offer of £10,000 was made and accepted.
